A two part program for High Schools Juniors that focuses on College Prep and Leadership skills.
The first part of the program is 3 weeks. From June 10th through the 28th, Monday through Friday, from 9am-12pm. You will all meet for 3 hours and learn about all aspects of the college application process.
Finding a good college match, completing college and scholarship applications, writing essays, filling out the FAFSA, and practicing for interviews, are some of the topics and activities covered during this time.
Weekly college tours are also part of the curriculum.
At the end of June, you will be prepared to successfully apply to college.
Leadership and Scholarship is an 11-week program during the Fall semester. You all meet every Thursday from September 12th through November 21st, from 5pm to 7:30pm.
The program focuses on a series of workshops covering a wide variety of topics, including the development of effective leadership skills, public speaking, self-advocacy, conflict resolution, and the ability to utilize one’s individual personality traits to be a more effective leader.
During this time you will continue to work with the students from the first part of the Summer program and discover new ways to be the leader you want to be in your community.
Once you successfully complete the 2 part program and submit an application for the The Ambassador Scholarship, you will receive a $3,000 award.
The Ambassador Foundation Scholarship is administered by the Denver Foundation and it is a needs based 4 year scholarship, for any non-profit college or university in Colorado. Additionally there are $2,500 scholarships awarded for any non-profit school in the country.
You first need to complete the application for the Ambassador Foundation and meet with a college advisor to discuss your plans, expectations, and requirements of the program. and then you can submit an application for the Leadership & Scholarship Program.
You can apply at the second semester of your junior year.
The Leadership and Scholarship Program accepts between 15-20 students per class.
Yes. Completion of the program earns each student a $3,000 scholarship.
Attendance at all classes is required.
Yes. You will be completing all your college application materials and working on leadership curriculum.
