AF Featured in Black Philanthropy Eight28 Giving Event

The Ambassador Foundation is honored to participate in the Eight28 Giving Event in August 2025! From The Colorado Trust:

“In recognition and celebration of August as Black Philanthropy Month, The Colorado Trust is hosting the 4th Black Philanthropy Eight28 Giving Event on August 28th as we continue to increase awareness and highlight Black Philanthropy in Colorado from moment to movement.

Previously, the Colorado Trust introduced a groundbreaking initiative, the Eight28 Initiative, the Trust made significant investments in the Black Resilience in Colorado Fund (BRIC) and then an investment in AyA, a Black Community Foundation, supporting Black nonprofit organizations and commitment to the Black community through the power of Black Philanthropy. These investments help build and support Black philanthropic institutions and establish a Black donor collective to fund black-focused nonprofits. From there, the Colorado Trust’s Eight28 Cohort was created, bringing together 22 black-led, black-serving organizations throughout Colorado for 8 months, participating in intentional capacity building.”

“What is the significance of August 28/ Eight28? August has always been a month of significance for the Black community. August 28th, Black Philanthropy Day, crowns Black Philanthropy Month — a month marked by pivotal moments that have shaped our journey:

  • August 28, 1833: The Slavery Abolition Act was passed in British colonies
  • August 28, 1955: Emmett Till was brutally murdered, igniting the civil rights movement
  • August 28, 1963: Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his iconic “I Have a Dream” speech
  • August 28, 2005: Hurricane Katrina reached Category 5, disproportionately impacting Black residents of New Orleans
  • August 28, 2008: Barack Obama accepted the Democratic nomination for president

Each of these moments represents a milestone in our ongoing journey towards equity. We believe that by investing the foundation in the full social capital and diverse resources of the Black community into the Black nonprofits and philanthropic organizations, we can create real and significant change and build a stronger, more equitable society for all. We hope that you will join us for this important event and help us from moment to movement.”
